HISTORY OF ROCKLAND STANDARD GEAR
Rockland Standard Gear Inc. was started in 1981 by Michael Weinberg and Brian C. Johnston. Their mission was to distribute Original Equipment Manufacturer quality parts for manual transmissions and 4WD transfer cases to the transmission repair industry. The goals were simple: sell quality parts at competitive prices, provide the buyer with great customer service, provide a technical hotline, free, to all customers, and offer a no hassle warranty. From a humble beginning in a 2,000 sq/ft warehouse with 2 employees, Rockland Standard Gear has grown to employ 24 people in a modern 66,000 sq/ft facility with a world-wide customer base.
The company distributes parts to transmission repair shops, new car dealers, and general repair shops. Rockland Standard Gear Inc. also remanufactures standard transmissions and transfer cases backed by a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty that pays R & R labor should the need arise. The remanufacturing division also has a performance group that rebuilds standard transmissions for many professional race teams, hotrodders, kit car builders, and car enthusiasts who want to enhance the performance potential of their street cars. The performance group specializes in the production of bulletproof race proven manual transmissions for GM Corvettes, Camaros and Firebirds, Ford Mustangs and Dodge Vipers. Rockland Standard Gear has close working relationships with Tremec Transmissions and ZF Industries which are the two leading manual transmission manufacturers to the major automakers.
